Dr. Jennifer Jellison
Dr. Jennifer Jellison, a native of Canton Ohio, grew up on 38th street and attended Glenoak High School. Following graduation in 1976, Dr. J earned her Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from The Ohio State University. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State College of Veterinary medicine in 1985. In 2002, she earned her Penn Hip Certification and in 2006 Chief of Staff Certification.
On May 1, 2011, Dr. Jellison purchased the Blue Cross Animal Hospital from retiring Dr. William Leed and renamed the hospital “For Paws Blue Cross Animal Hospital”. Jennifer has made numerous public service announcements regarding child abuse as well as animal abuse. A frequent guest on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Regis and Kelly, Good Morning America, NBC, ABC and Fox news broadcasts along with local and national radio shows as an animal advocate.
In 2011, Dr. Jellison received the Ohio State University Veterinary Medicine Alumni Recognition Award. In that same year, Dr. J was inducted into the Glen Oak High School Hall of Distinction. Later that year, The Canton Repository readers voted Dr. Jellison as the first choice for favorite veterinarian!
In addition, she has been featured in an episode of Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures about her work as a volunteer for Canine Companions for Independence. Jennifer loves to run, ride horses, and spend time with her three children, William, Maggie, and Andrew. She lives in Canton with her husband, 4 Dogs and 5 Cats.

Dr. Mandy Pullekins
Dr. Pullekins is a native of Steubenville, Ohio. Dr. Pullekins studied Agriculture and Animal Sciences receiving a Magna Cum Laude Bachelor of Science Degree at The Ohio State University. Upon graduation, Mandy entered The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine graduating in the top 10% of her class and receiving a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
After Spending two months at For Paws as a volunteer assistant, Dr. Pullekins joined For Paws as the second veterinarian in 2012. Mandy lives in Akron with her husband, Andy, and 3 and 1/2 year old twins Jude and Jordan. They also have two rescue puggles, Bexley and Braxton, and their For Paws Project cat, Oscar. Dr. Pullekins works with Dr. Jellison caring for Humane Society animals, and community projects and enjoys spending time with her family and dogs. Mandy and her two puggles are big Ohio State Buckeye Fans!
JR Johnson is the practice manager, husband to Dr. Jellison and full-time gardener at the hospital. Before meeting Jennifer, he had just left Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures as the Executive Producer for 10 years. During that time, JR traveled to every continent and 65 countries, including visiting Africa seven times to study and film animals in the wild with Jack Hanna.
Earning a Bachelor of Arts at Colorado State University, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at The University of Chicago. A former United States Marine, Jerry is the proud Father of four sons, eight Grandchildren, three stepchildren, and two stepchildren of one of his sons. In his spare time, he loves to travel, spend time with Jennifer and visit his grandchildren and families.
